Highlands Private Hideaway

Explore The Southern Highlands

After the Great Southern Railway was constructed in the late 1860s, the towns of the Southern Highlands were frequented by wealthy Sydney visitors who built substantial country summer houses so they could enjoy the cooler highland climate.

The Highlands is steeped in history and today you will still find many of those well-established homes together with antique stores, wineries, historic villages and townships. There are bushwalks to cascading waterfalls, horse riding, great restaurants, cafes and providores stocking magnificent cheeses, bread and charcuterie.
